Minutes from the Strip: 2 Hours to 2 ½ Hours

El Rio Golf and Country Club is located 2 hours south of the Las Vegas area in a large master-planned, gated community covering 640 acres. The course is upscale and is only a short 30 minute drive from the strip in Laughlin, NV. The course is designed by Matt Dye, who is one of the best new generation golf course architects. He is the nephew of famed course designer, Pete Dye, one of the sports’ legends in design.
El Rio features scenic views of the surrounding mountains, gentle rolling and forgiving fairways, undulating greens, and water comes into play on some holes. Four sets of tee boxes allow for players of all skill levels to enjoy themselves.

The number one handicapped hole is the par-4 2nd which measures 467 yards. The hole doglegs slightly right with desert landscaping waiting for any errant shots off the tee. Bunkers guard both the short left and right of the green, which has its share of undulations once you reach it.

One of the shorter holes on the course, and a birdie opportunity, is the 325 yard par-4 8th hole. Bunkers line the fairway as you approach the green, and water guards the right side of the slightly elevated green. However, if golfers can stay accurate, a good score is very possible.

Coming home, the par-5 17th is the biggest challenge as you finish your round. Measuring 542 yards, the 17th doglegs left with a large lake guarding most of the fairway’s left side. Anything left on this hole spells trouble. A bunker short of the green guards it, while water sits lurking behind and to the left of the green. Accuracy is at a premium, and most golfers will be pleased with par as they head to the finish.

El Rio Golf and Country Club offers a Spanish, mission-style clubhouse featuring the Terrace Restaurant which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, with facilities available for meetings, and group events. The clubhouse also has beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and the golf course, with a large outdoor patio to be enjoyed before or after your round. In addition, located inside the clubhouse is the El Rio Golf Shop, with all of the equipment, fashionable attire, and accessories you may need.

El Rio also offers Men’s and Women’s Clubs that play during the week which is a great way to make new friends and enjoy a terrific golf course. Also, the course can accommodate a tournament of any size with an experienced, dedicated staff to help make your event memorable.

Enjoy a beautiful and scenic drive south to El Rio on your next visit to the area.
