Located in the heart of the Summerlin area of Las Vegas, Badlands Golf Club is one of its finest golfing venues.
Badlands is a Johnny Miller design featuring 27 holes of amazing beauty and terrific views of the Red Rock canyons. The three courses, the Outlaw, Diablo, and Desperado, will challenge all skill levels and all offer distinctive layouts. The courses transverse through deep arroyos, canyons, and natural washes while playing through the desert.
Badlands sets a premium on ball striking, accuracy, and course management, providing a fulfilling desert golf experience.
Badlands’ Desperado Course features two par-5’s, the second of
which is the 4th hole and is the number one handicapped hole on the course.
The hole measure 532 yards and is uphill the entire way. The fairway is tight,
with a dry creek bed crossing through the fairway. The fairway doglegs slightly
right to a small undulating green.
The difficult 4th hole is followed by the equally challenging 6th. The 6th
hole on the Desperado Course is 419 yards of uphill challenges. This hole
is the perfect example of “target golf” in Las Vegas. The tee
shot must carry the dry desert area to the fairway. If you can manage the
tee shot, well, you get to do it again on your approach to the green, hitting
again over the desert with a large bunker guarding the front left. For an
additional challenge the hole is mostly uphill, however the green slopes
from back to front to accept a longer iron shot.
The finishing hole on Badlands’ Diablo Course is the par-4, 473-yard
9th. Again it’s an uphill challenge with a narrow fairway with accuracy
being of the utmost importance as desert guards both sides. The second shot
must clear an arroyo through the fairway to the undulating green with a large
bunker catching approach shots missing to the right.
There aren’t many birdie opportunities at Badlands, so when they present themselves, golfers must try to take advantage. The par-4 5th hole on Badlands’ Outlaw Course gives you one such chance. The hole only measures 300 yards, and a lake guards the right side, however, a well placed tee shot doesn’t allow the water to come into play. The hole plays straight, slightly uphill, with the fairway undulating. A good approach allows for an opportunity for a good score.
However, the break from the “teeth” of Badlands stops there. The par-5 6th hole awaits golfers on the Outlaw Course. The 6th doglegs left with a narrow fairway. The landing areas are undulating and require an accurate shot into a small green with a small lake guarding the right side.
Badlands offers full practice facilities, including a driving range, chipping and putting greens. The large clubhouse features men’s and women’s apparel, equipment, and accessories. The upscale restaurant at the course is the Badlands Grille, which features a breakfast menu, lunch menu, and dinner buffet. Badlands can accommodate up to 200 guests for golf outings and events of all occasions. Weddings, receptions, corporate meetings and events are very popular at the course. The views at the course are stunning and offer a great venue for special events and entertaining guests.
