Angel Park Golf Club sits on the “high side” of the Las Vegas
Valley, at almost 3000 feet high, and offers spectacular views of the surrounding Red Rock Canyon and Las Vegas. The course offers 2 championship golf courses, the Mountain and Palm courses, designed by Arnold Palmer. In addition, the facility also offers a Short Course (Cloud Nine) and a natural grass Putting Course, both of which are lighted for evening enjoyment. Angel Park offers one of the most complete and fun golf experiences you’ll find, not only in Las Vegas, but in most areas of the United States.
The Palm Course is noted as the shorter of the two courses, however, it
requires a number of forced carries in order to score well. Three of the
par-3’s
on the Palm Course measure over 200 yards, with the longest being the 12th,
measuring 220 yards. As mentioned, the tee shot is a carry over the desert
terrain, to the green with sand and grass bunkers in front and two large
boulders surrounding.
The most difficult hole on the Palm Course is the par- 5 6th hole that measures
out to 525 yards. The hole features a double dogleg and split fairway guarded
by bunkers and arroyos.
The Palm Course was remodeled in 1993 to make way for the Cloud Nine Course
which will be highlighted later.
The Mountain Course was designed to present an advanced challenge to golfers
of all skill levels and it doesn’t disappoint. On average, the par-
4’s on the course are longer, and the par-5’s tend to be tighter,
with striking elevation changes adding to the challenge of the Mountain Course.
The second hole on the Mountain Course is slated as the number one handicapped
hole on the course. The hole is a par-5 measuring 509 yards with a wide fairway
to golfers to hit their tee shot into, but narrowing for the approach shot.
Water from a large lake guards the right side of the fairway, so staying
to the center or left is recommended and gives a more advantageous angle
into the green on the approach.
Another challenging hole is the par-5 17th, measuring 557 yards. The hole
doglegs to the left and separates your tee shot from the second shot by the
large desert terrain that runs through the landing areas about 250 yards
from the green. The landing area on the far side of the separation is narrow,
however, an accurate 2nd shot leaves a promising approach into the green.
The Cloud Nine Short Course at Angel Park offers a treat and unique experience that only Las Vegas can offer. The course features 12 holes, 9 of which are lighted for play after the sun goes down. All twelve of the holes are inspired by some of the most well known and famous golf holes in the world. The Cloud Nine Course is a par-3 course and is terrific for friends, couples, beginners, business travelers, or others who are wanting to work on their short game or just enjoy a unique experience. All of the holes measure between 85 and 145 yards with many being well guarded by bunkers. The holes are unique and fun as well as presenting a challenge, including the very first hole, which measures 92 yards and features a boomerang-shaped green. The 10th hole is reminiscent of the island green at TPC Scottsdale, measuring 100 yards. The 96 yard 11th hole offers a hole called the “Riviera” which has the distinctive inclusion of a bunker in the middle of the green, making your tee shot an interesting one.
The Cloud Nine Short Course has been named one of Golf Range Magazine’s “Top
Short Courses in America” in 2007, while Travel & Leisure Magazine
has named it one of the “Top Ten Replica Courses in the Country”.
Also, whether during the daylight hours or just after dark, Angel Park also
offers a 9-hole lighted putting course. The distances at the putting course
range from 50 to 180 feet and detailed scorecards are available also. The
putting course also features mini sand bunkers as well as flags that are
slightly shorter than standard.
There is also a southwest-style clubhouse that offers the latest in golf
equipment and accessories, as well as a full service restaurant and banquet
facilities. Many boast Angel Park as a terrific venue to host a wedding or
special event with its beautiful views of the city and beautifully manicured
courses.
Angel Park has received many accolades since its opening, boasting repeated
honors from the “Best of Las Vegas” from the Las Vegas Review
Journal almost every year. The golf course also is a favorite among golfers
visiting Las Vegas as voted on in “What’s On” magazine.
Angel Park Golf Club has established itself as one of the premier stops
on your golfing visit and one you can’t miss.
